Divisionals Information - IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ!
Piranha Families,
Divisionals is approaching on Saturday, July 20th, and we are all looking forward to a great meet at Burke Station and fast swims from our SS2 swimmers!
IMPORTANT: Please email us your selections for Divisionals AT THE LATEST by 5:00p Saturday evening, July 13, by sending us an email with your stroke preferences. Even if you think you may not qualify, please send us your choices. For example, First Choice- Back, Second Choice – Fly, Third Choice – Free, Fourth Choice – Breast, Fifth Choice -IM. Please list all five events and your preference. If there is a stroke that you DO NOT want to swim, please make note of that and list in your preferences.
Please send email to Chris ([email protected]) and Heather ([email protected]).
Each year, the starting stroke for Divisionals rotates. This year, Divisionals begins with IM, then moves to Free, Back, Breast, and Fly. There will be warm-ups before each stroke and a short break after the Free events.
Swimmers at the top of the stroke ladders (i.e., the fastest SS2 times for that stroke in your age group) – please respond early so others down the ladder know what their options are! Thanks! We are planning for all swimmers to respond by email, making an in-person Sunday session unnecessary. This is very important.
Sunday, July 14th
Divisionals REQUESTS from swimmers finalized.
Also, final SELECTIONS for all strokes will not be made until after the IM Carnival on Monday night.
Here is information regarding Divisionals:
DIVISIONALS
The last meet of the season for most of our swimmers is the Individual Championships for our division. There is no team scoring for this meet. Each team in our division can enter two swimmers in each event, and then “bid-in” additional swimmers from our team as “Alternates” if space permits in the event. This is determined at the Team Rep. seeding meeting on Wednesday the week of Divisionals. We make Divisional selections with the swimmers on the Sunday prior to Divisionals. This year, A AND B meet times can be used for seeding, but A meet times take precedence. Swimmers must compete in their own age groups.
Also, remember that just because a swimmer swims a fast time that is under the previous year’s All-Star cut does not mean that the swimmer will qualify for All-Stars in the current season. All-Star selections are made from the results at Divisionals from all 17 divisions. In short, to qualify for All-Stars, a swimmer must swim the stroke in Divisionals and be one of the 18 fastest swimmers in the NVSL from that meet on July 20.
Keep in mind that due to absences from our team and other teams, or stroke selection, spots open up for more than the top two swimmers from Sully II in each event. Do not assume that your swimmer will not swim until after the seeding meeting on Tuesday night. The Team Reps. will call and the coaches will announce Divisionals selections as soon as confirmed, but this may be up until Friday morning before Divisionals on Saturday.
IMPORTANT: We need all swimmers to let us know of their selections asap via email. Since this is an individual meet, the swimmers ultimately decide what they want to swim.
Thanks,
C and L
